Our School provides a vibrant and stimulating environment in which to undertake postgraduate studies.

Postgraduate scholarships of more than AUS $25,000 a year (tax free) may be available for postgraduate students entering the School.

With more than 30 research students (most of them studying for the PhD degree) and a large number of postdoctoral researchers, leading edge research is carried out across the whole spectrum of Civil and Resource Engineering.

Most of the research projects are strongly linked with industrial needs and funded in large part by industry as well as various departments of the state and federal governments.

Master's degree by research

The Master of Engineering Science (Research) is a broad-based degree that allows students to pursue research topics in a range of disciplines from engineering and mathematical science. It is of shorter duration than the PhD degree and can be completed in one to two years full time or up to four year part time. It is designed to give candidates research experience over a short period of time.
