Can I do some of the units with distance learning?
Generally speaking, no. This is a campus-based course. However, when the situation arises, it can be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Can I do trimester units if I choose to do some units in MBA?
Yes, as long as you can find the time in your schedule.
Am I allowed to take 8-point units in MBA?
Yes. The MBA unit fees apply.
Do I need to get an approval from the Business School if I take some MBA units?
You need to provide a CV (a BE degree, minimum two year professional experience and English proficiency) and an inter-departmental enrolment form. This can be done at the Business School Postgraduate Student Centre, ground floor, Business School building.
Can I choose a unit in MBA without completing their prerequisites?
No, you need to follow the prerequisite requirements in MBA program.
Can I do one unit per semester if I am doing part time study?
Yes, you can do one unit per semester, as long as you complete the degree within the time limit (four or five years).
Can I do a unit in a Master of Oil and Gas similar to my fourth-year elective unit?
You cannot do them when the two units are essentially the same.
Do I need an approval and professional experience to enrol in Master of Oil and Gas units?
You don’t need approval of working experience to enrol in their units, as long as you have a BE in civil engineering.
Do I need to enrol for all the units online through studentConnect after I submit my study plan?
Yes, you need to enrol online on studentConnect in all the units listed on your study plan (for the current year).
Do you have lectures online for the civil units?
It is possible but it will depend on the individual lecturers.
What happens abouts credits and time spent away?
If you obtained your bachelor degree from UWA, you can get up to 48 credit points towards your master study, provided your average is 65 per cent or above. There is no limit on time spent away. However, if you have been away for more than two years, it may not be practical to continue your final year project in the master level. Thus, the credit points can be up to 36 points.
How will I be affected as a part-time student with daytime lectures in the first year?
If you are working full-time, you will have to take some time off to do the first year master's units since we don’t offer evening units for the first year.
Can a part-time graduate diploma student do a one-semester research project?
Yes, if you are a part-time student you can do such a project out of your own interest in the course. However, there is no unit listed in the course and you will not receive credit points.
What if I don’t want to continue my final year project?
If you received a BE from UWA and you would like to do extra units, you can get 36 points credit. You can select extra units to do.
