Entry Requirements
The following sections set out the minimum requirements for entering into the PhD or Master's programme in the School of Civil and Resource Engineering at UWA.
Qualifications

PhD: Applicants for this degree should hold a Master’s degree or a Bachelors degree equivalent to first or upper second class (2A) honours degrees from the University of Western Australia.

Master’s: A Bachelors degree with first or second class honours in engineering or applied science is required for admission to this degree.
English Requirements
All international students must meet the minimum English proficiency requirements detailed below:
- TOEFL (paper-based total): 550
- TOEFL (computer-based total): 213
- IELTS: 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0)
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: B grade
- GCE Ordinary Level English: C6 or higher
- Australian Matriculation English: Pass
Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
Please note that higher scores are required:
- for those intending to apply for the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS), which requires a TOEFL score of 580 (or 237 computer-based total) with a TWE of 4.5, or an IELTS score of 6.5 with no individual band less than 6.0.
- for applicants from particular countries where Australian Government visa regulations may have a higher requirement.
