Our School provides laptops and computer labs with internet access and printing to assist you with your studies.
We run a fantastic initiative where all Civil and Resource Engineering students receive a free laptop.
The School’s Undergraduate Computer Lab is equipped with 48 Intel-based high power computers with a regular computer replacement program.
Located in the air conditioned Room A207 on the second floor of the Civil and Mechanical Building, the lab consists of three separable bays with 16 PCs in each, all connected to a gigabit network.
There is a self-servicing print station that controls three networked laser printers, with duplex capability, for student to print from any PCs in the lab.
Two high-resolution data projectors (one in the North Bay and one in the South Bay) and an amplified audio system with a wireless microphone are available for running multimedia presentations in the computer laboratory.
There are plenty of network ports and a wireless access point for students to connect personal laptops to the UWA SNAP network.
Students enrolled in any units offered by the School are entitled to an account for accessing the School's lab facilities. New accounts are created, based on the enrolment record two weeks before the start of the each semester. Your lab account will be in the following format:
You will be asked to change the password at the first logon. Your new password must be eight (8) characters or longer. Email IT Support or telephone (+61 8) 6488 1341 if you are unable to log in using your UWA assigned username and your student number.
Access to the internet from the Undergraduate Computer Lab is controlled by IT Services (ITS). All internet traffic is authenticated by the ITS proxy server.
If you try to access a site outside of the University, you will be prompted for a username and password. The username and password are the same as your UWA assigned username and password. However, you first must have upgraded your UWA student account to a full service student account and you must have sufficient funds on your account to proceed.
